Lakes in Nepal

Hello World, in this article, I will tell you about the famous lakes of Nepal with and their depth. 
 First of all, I am going to introduce Nepal. Nepal is a beautiful landlocked country situated between China and India. The total area of Nepal is 147,181 square Kilometer with an average of North to South distance 192 KM and East to West distance 885 KM. The population of Nepal is nearly 30 million according to the latest census 2068 BS. Nepal is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is because of variation in the small area. Nepal is located from 70 m (Kechana Kalan) to 8848 m tallest Everest Mountain from the sea level. Nepal has natural, cultural, religious and locals beauty.

These are some Famous Lakes in Nepal:

  1. Phoksundo Lake 
    Phoksundo lake is situated in the She Phoksundo National Park of Nepal in Dolpa District at an elevation of 3611.5 m (11849 ft) above sea level. It is the deepest lake of Nepal comparing the average depth among all lakes in Nepal, but also Rara lake is up to 167 m deep in some region.
    Maximum depth of Lake: 145 m (476 m)
  2. Fewa Lake:
    Fewa lake is located at the beautiful city Pokhara of Kaski District Nepal. It is the only lake in Nepal where the temple is in the central part of the lake. Fewa lake is the most visited lake in Nepal. This lake is the semi-natural freshwater lake formerly called Baidam Tal. Fewa lake reflects the shadow of  Annapurna and Machhapuchhre Mountains in its water.

    Maximum depth= 24 m (79 ft)
  3. Rara lake
    Rara lake is located in Mugu and Jumla districts of Nepal and is the largest and deepest freshwater lake in Nepal.  Rara Lake lies at an altitude of 2,990 m (9810 ft) above sea level
    Maximum depth 167 m (548)
    Average depth= 100 m (330)
  4. Begnas Lake: Begnas lake is another freshwater lake located at Kaski disctrict, Pokhara Nepal. Begnas lake is the third largest lake in Nepal.
    Average depth: 6.6 m( 22 ft)
    Maximum depth: 10m (33ft)
  5. Tilicho Lake:
    Tilicho lake is located in Manang District of Nepal. It is the lake found in the world's highest altitude with an elevation of 4919 meters (16138 ft) above the sea level.
    Average depth: 85 m (279 ft.)
