Why the Oman Series Matters for Nepal
These matches form part of the qualification pathway to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Eight teams compete in Cricket World Cup League 2, with each side playing 36 ODIs during the cycle. The top four teams in the final League 2 standings qualify directly for the 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
Teams outside the top four still have another path through the Qualifier Play-off, making every available League 2 point important during the closing stages of the competition.
Nepal Face Canada and Oman Twice
Nepal’s first match of the series will be against Canada on October 11.
Two days later, Nepal will face Oman before meeting Canada again on October 17. The four-match run concludes against Oman on October 19.

Road to the 2027 ODI World Cup
For Nepal, the Oman series is bigger than four standalone ODIs.
League 2 is part of the route toward the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be staged in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Teams finishing inside League 2’s top four progress directly to the World Cup Qualifier, where places in the main tournament will be decided.
With four matches packed into nine days, Nepal will have multiple opportunities to collect League 2 points against two direct competitors.
